Networks to support communities of practice or teaching in distinct areas of psychology

The Psychology Network funded and supported a wide variety of networks of people or distinct areas where there was a shortage of teaching resources. The Networks were led by small working groups who determine an agreed programme of activities in consultation with their relevant community and with the support of the Psychology Network. Support from the Psychology Network included funding and administration of events, technical support, publicity and dissemination.

Background
One of 24 discipline-based centres within the Higher Education Academy, the Psychology Network supported the teaching and learning of psychology across the UK between 2004 and 2011. A core team, based at the University of York, worked with students, staff, departments, professional bodies and overseas organisations to develop supportive networks and to improve the learning experience of psychology students in Higher Education.
