Keeping students motivated: tips and strategies for large groups Join Peter Reddy, Senior Psychology Lecturer, Aston University, as he explores a range of ways to improve interaction and engagement which promotes motivation and learning in large groups. Peter will explore the detail of interpersonal behaviour, the organization of activities, and the use of video links and recordings.

Feedback: do students understand it, need it, use it?
How confident are you about giving effective constructive criticism to students? Dr. Anne Ridley, Senior Lecturer, London South Bank University, will present some of her research findings on student feedback, lead delegates in discussion and facilitate activities aimed at exploring and identifying good practice.


PhD Opportunity Knocks - Getting your first post
This session will focus on issues and strategies psychology postgraduates need to address to be successful in the labour market. David Carew, Chartered Occupational & Chief Psychologist, Department for Work and Pensions will help delegates to identify practical solutions to ensure they are best placed to maximise impact on potential employers.

One of 24 discipline-based centres within the Higher Education Academy, the Psychology Network supported the teaching and learning of psychology across the UK between 2004 and 2011. A core team, based at the University of York, worked with students, staff, departments, professional bodies and overseas organisations to develop supportive networks and to improve the learning experience of psychology students in Higher Education.
