Teaching and Managing Small Groups
Polish up your skills working with small groups with Dr. Jacqui Akhurst, York St John University. This interactive session provides some insight into group dynamics, group facilitation and leadership, and practical suggestions for small group teaching.


Effective Feedback: Marking and Assessment

Build up your confidence in marking student work with Dr. Stuart McGugan, Liverpool University. Topics that will be covered include: reliable and valid assessment, role of assessment criteria, providing constructive feedback, marker bias and how to minimise it, and managing your marking workload. Participants will have the opportunity to undertake a marking activity during this workshop.

Publication Advice for PhD Students
Explore and develop your publication strategy. Dr. Marcel Zenter, University of York, will explore the various avenues for publishing your research; discuss major issues when writing papers for publications; help us to understand the journal peer review process; and provide some practical tips from planning and manuscript preparation to the submission process.

One of 24 discipline-based centres within the Higher Education Academy, the Psychology Network supported the teaching and learning of psychology across the UK between 2004 and 2011. A core team, based at the University of York, worked with students, staff, departments, professional bodies and overseas organisations to develop supportive networks and to improve the learning experience of psychology students in Higher Education.
