Mapping, resourcing and developing Community Psychology teaching in UK Higher Education

This miniproject is now complete.

This project aims to map, resource and promote UK Community Psychology (CP) teaching in Higher Education (HE). This project will identify existing CP teaching programmes and promote the web-based sharing of CP teaching resources. Through developing a CPHE web site, teaching and learning resources will be shared. Moreover, the possibility of incorporating community psychology teaching will be promoted through publicising this 'new' area of social psychology.

This strand of social psychology capitalises on HE policy developments in higher education that promote active citizenship by facilitating HE-community partnerships; recognising and promoting staff-student community participation in the voluntary sector, and promoting the acquisition of key transferable skills through community-based experiential learning.

This project seeks to create additional opportunities for the funding of community based psychology teaching in order to raise the profile of CP and enhance the effectiveness of CP teaching across psychology departments.

This work will be disseminated at the UK Community Psychology Conference and the BPS Social Psychology Conference.
